This minor dwelling was designed as a compact, self-contained retreat located in Judea, Tauranga. The client’s goal was to create a high-quality secondary dwelling that could operate as a short-stay Airbnb, generating additional income while complementing the main home on the property.
Thoughtful planning was essential to maximise functionality within a smaller footprint. The design focuses on open, light-filled living spaces that feel generous and comfortable for guests, while maintaining a strong connection to the outdoor environment.
Careful attention was given to the layout and construction to ensure the dwelling was efficient to build without compromising on quality or aesthetic. Durable, low-maintenance materials were selected to withstand frequent use while maintaining a refined and modern appearance.
The project was delivered through close collaboration between the architectural design and construction teams at Gardo Group. This integrated approach allowed the design to be refined throughout the build, ensuring the finished dwelling met both the client’s vision and the practical requirements of a successful short-stay rental.
The completed minor dwelling provides a beautiful, functional space for guests while creating a valuable new income stream for the property.
