A coastal architectural new build currently under construction at Opito Bay. The brief: a home that responds to its site — orientation, light, and shelter from the prevailing wind — without sacrificing thermal performance or long-term durability.
This project is in active construction. We are documenting progress through the build and will update this page as key stages complete. Scroll through the gallery below for current site photos.
Coastal sites carry their own design discipline — salt exposure on cladding and joinery, geotech specific to the soil profile, sun and wind orientation that often run perpendicular to the view. Building well at Opito Bay means designing for the place, not transplanting a generic plan onto it.
We design for those conditions rather than around them. Our coastal sites guide explains the approach in detail, and our design and build service brings the design and construction teams under one roof so site response is built into the project from concept up.
Photos updating through the build.
Progress photos will appear here as the build advances. Add images via the Webflow Designer.
Updates to this page will continue through to handover. If you are planning a coastal build of your own, get in touch — we are happy to walk you through what good coastal design and construction looks like. See our other coastal work in The Cabin and Ōmokoroa Home.
