Gardo Group is based on the Ōmokoroa peninsula. Our office is at 113a Margaret Drive. We know the area in detail because we live and work in it — coastal-facing sites, tighter geology than Tauranga's clay belt, lifestyle and family briefs, and a community character that is genuinely different from the city across the harbour.

The local context

Ōmokoroa sits on a peninsula. Many sites face north, north-east, or north-west toward the water, with prevailing wind from the south-west — design that captures view without losing thermal performance is the local craft.

Soil conditions on the peninsula are not uniform. Some sites sit on free-draining sand-and-shell, others on heavier silt or clay; coastal-edge sites may need additional ground improvement, deeper foundations, or specific retaining strategy. We will not give you a price for a project here without first understanding the geotech.

Western Bay of Plenty District Council is the consenting authority for Ōmokoroa. We lodge consents with WBOPDC regularly. Some Ōmokoroa zones have specific design controls — height to boundary, view-shaft considerations, or coastal hazard overlays — and we work with those rather than around them.
